The Business Development Director is responsible for identifying and signing new partnerships that strategically position the college for success. This individual will possess a high level of knowledge of health care organizations with specific emphasis on where there are opportunities for partnering and to proactively develop opportunities for Excelsior College programs and courses; and to evangelize the benefits of a college degree through Excelsior College by researching and identifying key C level decision makers in corporations where the college can add value. They will be a ‘hunter’ who will find and close new business opportunities for the college.
The successful candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team to help successfully secure new partnerships. This position requires travel.
Remote applicants will be considered for this role with the understanding that there will be required training/start-up time (anticipated to be a minimum of 1 month with the possibility of an extra month or so) in the main Albany office; and remote applicants will be required to have had some experience working in a remote capacity (minimum of six months).
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Research, identify, and develop prospective partners to increase our pipeline of customers.
•Maintain familiarity with health care organizations and systems at Chief Learning Officer/C-suite level
•Drive sales process from start to finish including initiating contact, developing the sales strategy, driving the internal and external team members to the right solution, and maintaining the relationship with the client.
•Work closely with various internal team members to develop and implement effective strategies to provide customer value as well as manage the ROI, contract, and negotiation processes.
•Utilize Excelsior College’s Executive Leadership team to develop and close opportunities.
•Possess a solid knowledge of Excelsior College degree programs and services and relate this information to partners to align workforce and customer needs with solutions.
•Perform the necessary research to qualify prospective partner’s willingness to help market the partnership to their constituents.
•Coordinate the completion of a return on investment analysis and ensure appropriate stakeholders provide input and feedback on the deal structure.
•Collaborate with the Regional Directors regarding the strategy and onboarding of new partners.
•Negotiate contract terms with clients and communicate terms to stakeholders.
•Other duties and projects as assigned.
•Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution is required. Master’s degree preferred.
•A minimum of 7 years of proven business development success.
•Demonstrated ability of proactive prospecting.
•Experience and proven success in creating and negotiating formal partnership agreements (MOU/MOA) and building strong, productive relationships with partners
•Demonstrated familiarity with health care corporations and systems.
•Demonstrated success in revenue generation, partnership prospecting, and partnership creation.
•Ability to establish and maintain relationships with key decision makers and develop a high level of understanding of the professional development and workforce needs within key organizations.
•Demonstrated ability to work with multiple, diverse stakeholders across complex organizations and different populations and recognize opportunities for growth.
