The Associate Dean is responsible for the administrative operations and regulatory/accreditation compliance within the School of Nursing. The Associate Dean develops strategic approaches for academic operations for all nursing degree programs and maintains effective working relationships with regulatory and accrediting organizations. The Associate Dean conducts and disseminates research supportive of student success and best practices in distance nursing education. The Associate Dean is a member of the nursing leadership team and reports to the Dean. This is a full-time position with benefits based in Albany, NY.
Duties and Responsibilities:
I. Provide administrative direction for academic operations:
•Provide a vision for quality improvement initiatives to improve student success, enhance program outcomes, and improve operational processes and effectiveness.
II. Provide leadership and coordination of all regulatory, accrediting and governmental affairs impacting the School of Nursing.
•Promote relationship building with regulators, accreditors and stakeholders for all programs within the School of Nursing and Excelsior College.
III. Develop a program of research supportive of the academic models for distance education employed by Excelsior College and the School of Nursing.
•Conduct/coordinate research to identify best-practices in distance education, student success, and competency-based assessment in addition to initiatives supportive of the College strategic
•Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Registered Nurse in New York State.
•Doctorate in nursing or related field and master’s degree in nursing from a regionally accredited institution.
•Experience in nursing education and nursing accreditation.
•An extensive history of nursing research and publication.
•Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
•Ability to master, assimilate, and convey extensive factual knowledge, with a high degree of accuracy and detail.
•Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communications.
•Ability to work with diverse constituencies and staff.
•Demonstrated commitment to, and experience with, nontraditional education of adults.
